Strassenfest Mission

The mission of the St. Louis Strassenfest Corporation is to plan, erect and stage a street festival which cultivates and celebrates German customs, traditions and cultural heritage.  The annual Strassenfest differs from other festivals by the fact that only recognized nonprofit groups can participate as authorized concessionaires.  The profits from the individual booth operations as well as additional donations from the St. Louis Strassenfest Corporation have resulted in many millions of dollars in revenues being produced for the benefit of local civic, educational, cultural and charitable organizations.

The St. Louis Strassenfest Corporation is a Non-Profit corporation incorporated in the State of Missouri and approved as a social welfare organization under section 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code.  The corporation is governed by a board of directors.  Included are activity chairpersons dedicated to specific tasks performed by an all volunteer work force.

Many thousands of visitors are attracted to the Strassenfest and a significant number of them patronize local businesses as well.  Local department stores, hotels, tourist attractions and restaurants have benefitted economically from this event.

The St. Louis Strassenfest underwrites all expenses for advertising, insurance, sanitation, electricity and safety.  The Corporation derives it’s income from nominal fees on rides, concessionaires, arts/crafts and sponsorship donations.  Net profit (if any is realized), is accumulated and distributed in the local community.
